The United States Marine Corps isn't complete without its heavily armored beasts & fighting giants, "war pigs" as we call 'em. Though the 7th Armored Regiment makes up a small number of the 11th Marines fighting force, they have the largest bite compared to everyone else. The War Pigs take on some of the hardest jobs within the 11th Marines, some tasks are supporting the infantry forces on the ground, or friendly units in the air. From Artillery support to Armored Warfare, the 7th has every combat encounter and mission profile covered.

fire supportOn the battlefield, armored units provide fire support and shock action for infantry units. Following maneuver or convoy, they either obliterate the enemy, route away enemy fire, or protect friendly units at all costs to the tank crew.
|
artillery supportFar from the fields of combat, crews manning big guns with the sound of thunder coordinate with friendly forces in precise accuracy of deadly rounds to drop on on enemy targets deemed to high risk or invisible for infantry, armored or even aviation forces to locate & engage.
|
amphibious landingsIn the event of being tasked with amphibious assault or invasion, armored units provide transportation and fire for the invading forces.
|
armored RECONNAISSANCEIn coordination with friendly infantry & reconnaissance forces, armored units assist with providing reconnaissance leading up for an assault requiring heavy firepower.
|
Armored crewmanOf course, the Armored Crewman reserves a role of its own in the 11th. Armored crewman are responsible for operation and mission tasking of the main battle tanks, light armored vehicles & amphibious assault vehicles of the video games we participate in. Common operations of armored crewman occur in the Abrams Tanks of Arma 3 and tanks of Squad.
|
Operations crewmanThe other primary role is providing supplies and maintaining and organization of vehicles in & outside of a convoy setting. The Eleventh likes to display its umbrella of dominance and firepower in the games we play. So we need a role to oversee and retain proper protocol of convoy procedures, supply acquisition and maintenance of vehicles. Convoy procedures aren't limited to group settings. In a non-convoy role, the "Operations Crewman" as will be typically assigned to infantry, aviation & armored forces to provide supplies, maintenance of vehicles and serve as ground intervention or Quick Reaction Forces, in the event of an attack.
|
Artillery crewmanThe Artillery Crewman is a secondary role that is tasked with maintaining & operating all forms of long-range artillery in support of friendly forces. Artillery Marines are also able to double-function as Armored Crewmen for specialized weapon systems. Artillery Marines can be attached to infantry forces and operate laser designators, range finders and radar beacons for coordinating fire support as well as assist in delivering accurate artillery fire by observing, computing and distributing weather conditions.

Armored scoutArmored Scouts are the ultimate mix of special operations, armored crewman and infantry. Following a specialized armored infantry reconnaissance role, Armored Scouts provide intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance typically behind enemy lines. Armored Scouts are vital for intelligence gathering for friendly forces and can harass hostile forces with the firepower of the LAV-25 and M118 Fastback. Marines in this role also double-function as Recon Marines and can perform Armored Crewman roles if need be. These bad boys are the first to go in during any conflict.

Assault AmphibianAmphibious Assault Companies utilize Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAVP-7A2) and are the de facto amphibious troop transportation units of the 7th Armored. They can land surface assault elements of the landing force and their equipment in a single lift. From assault shipping during amphibious operations to inland objectives, conducting mechanized operations and related combat support in subsequent mechanized operations ashore, Assault Amphibian companies are always on the move. The Amphibious Assault Vehicles are typically called "amtracks", a shortening of their original designation, "amphibious tractor".
These bastards are responsible for giving Marines their "amphibious" reputation. |
TankThe 7th Armored's Tank Companies utilize main battle tanks to provide fire support, shock and maneuver in support of armored operations. They provide combat power in the form of amphibious and Maritime Preposition Forces; conduct operations ashore utilizing maneuver, armor protected firepower and shock action in order to close with and destroy the enemy.
Tank Companies are also responsible for providing armored assets as well as anti-armor systems and staff expertise in their employment. |
Light Armored ReconnaissanceLight Armored Reconnaissance Companies uses the LAV-25 & light armored fighting series of vehicles.
They are fast and mobilized armored terrestrial reconnaissance units that conduct reconnaissance-in-force (RIF) ahead of the battalion landing teams or division infantry forces. They provide vital intelligence of the enemy. They perform their methods as special motorized, infantry-based reconnaissance units to quickly penetrate enemy lines and locate and/or harass any enemy forces to determine their size, strengths, location, and any other pertinent information requested by commanders. |
Light Armored Companies are ultimately responsible for combined arms reconnaissance and security missions. It's mission is to conduct reconnaissance, security and economy of force operations, and, within its capabilities, offensive or defensive operations that exploit the unit’s mobility and firepower.
|
OPERATIONSOperations Companies provide service support to keep up the 7th fully operational and fighting. The battalions primarily provide motor transport and logistics control and material handling (i.e., landing support) services, and limited engineer, maintenance, quick reaction, and supply services to the 7th Armored Regiment. An Operations Company is unique in it's structure in that it takes several types of service and logistics units and combines them into one for better organization.
|
ARTILLERYArtillery Companies are field artillery units that provide indirect, long-range cannon and rocket fire support for 11th Marine Division forces.
They provide direct support to 11th Marine Division forces in time of conflict. That support may come in the traditional fashion of artillery support to maneuver forces, or by providing batteries to serve as temporary rifle companies. It also has the secondary mission of being the primary providers of civil-military operations (CMO). CMO is defined as the activities of the commander that establish, maintain, influence, or exploit relations between military organizations, Government and civilian organizations and the civilian population. |
In order to qualify as a Armored, Artillery or Operations Crewman, you must first go to the Armored Warfare Academy and fulfill the required tests and exercises with proficient or advanced proficient testing score given to you by an instructor. Those who do not meet the requirement will be able to schedule an appointment with the next class and try to re-qualify. We do not take pittance on washouts. You either make it or you don't. Make sure your will is as strong as your metal, because the last thing a Marine will do is quit. Even if enduring means sacrificing your life.
