Operating Procedures & Basic Guides
The 11th Marine Division's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been put together to provide a guideline to members on procedures and systems the community has put in place for standard 11MD Sessions.
• The 11th Marine Division has procedures and systems in place to deliver our brand of milsim in game. Most functions are enacted through modifications and configurations ingame on Arma 3, however some are through player interaction and procedures. If these procedures are not followed, the - CO's will apply punishments and if deemed serious enough, will have offenders removed from the session.
• When acting in an official capacity, unless ordered to, unnecessary chatter is not to be spoken other than to report issues to the CO or regarding something dedicated to a mission, such as calling out an enemy. • When acting in an official capacity, all members will follow the chain of command. |
• When in game, members shall not meta game - For example, replays of missions shouldn’t be filled with “Oh I remember this one, its when X happened and we got killed by Y”. We learn from our mistakes, but we try not to “meta game” our way to victory and ruin the experience for other players.
• Map Markers are to only be used in the Briefing stage of the mission. • Some missions will have a respawn-by-force system. This is used to allow CO's to bring back members who might of been unfairly killed, or allow for reinforcement wave. Members are to not spam the CO asking to be brought back. The CO will keep tabs on members during the missions, and will question the dead member before bringing them back. |
• With a operation selected, a quick synopsis of the mission is read from the Operation Database, and the CO of the mission will request a Mission Leader.
• Nobody is to proceed until the Mission Leader has been slotted, and begins calling slots. • Once a mission leader has stepped up or been requested, they will begin calling out the roles they wish to be filled for the operation. These roles have been created by the mission maker to conform with their mission design. Each role will have a specific designation and weapons. Members who have selected an MOS after Basic Training will slot into the role that is or is closest to their MOS but may fill other roles as necessary. • When a role is called and filled, that member will be expected to perform that role to the best of their ability, with the support and encouragement of fellow Marines. |
• In a combined arms operation (Platoon + support), it is expected that team/squad/group leaders are assigned before filling the rest of the group roles. Single equipment/weapon roles may be taken, but then must be attached to another group if allowed by a CO/mission maker.
• Once members have slotted into a role, they are not to un-slot. If a preferred role is called after it has already slotted, members may ask a CO. It will be at the Mission Lead and the CO's discretion regarding who will be slotted into an already taken role. • Members who do not slot into a role and do not respond when questioned will be forced a role by the CO at the mission leads slot requests. • In a standard mission, the role and team chosen will remain for the rest of that mission. • Once all players are slotted and the Mission Lead is satisfied, the CO will launch the briefing. |
• Once the briefing screen is loaded all players should take the time to read the briefing and prepare for the Mission Leaders Briefing.
•Once the Mission Leader has read the briefing, they will begin to put together a plan. It is recommended that cohesion among officers & NCOs within the team is used to ensure a full and comprehensive briefing is delivered. • No member other than the Mission Leader(s) is to create map makers. |
• Once the plan is complete the Mission Leader will call for briefing. At this point all members should remain silent so the Mission Leader is able to deliver his briefing.
• Once the briefing is complete, the Mission Leader will ask for questions. At this point, members should ask any clarification questions they have about the Briefing. • Once all questions have been answered and the Mission Leader is satisfied, the CO will start the mission. |
• Once the mission has started, all members should “switch on” and treat the staging area as a possible combat zone.
• Once ingame, the Mission Leader and the other group leaders will being organising their groups to ensure everyone is combat ready. •All members should quickly check their gear and ensure they have the equipment they believe is required to complete the mission as their current role. If there are any concerns, they should be passed up the chain of command through a group leader. This does require some common sense. For example, if one does not have a weapon as the team's Autorifleman, that is a problem. If however someone does not like the weapon they’ve been given, that is not relevant. |
• All members should ensure they configure their communications as per the Briefing.
• With all members in-game and ready, equipment checked, comms configured and the Mission Lead satisfied. The CO will officially start the Mission. • Additional assets such as armor, aircraft and crewed weapons should only be performed by their slotted crew. For example, only members who have slotted into a Pilot role should fly Helicopters. |
